A few weeks ago I had the privilege of being the photographer for a very special marriage ceremony, my mother in law Susan and her sweetheart Jim. Their kids joined them for a sweet afternoon of celebrating their love, courtship and commitment to one another. Although they decided to be super risky and planned the big day for a date in early May, they were blessed with a beautiful sunny afternoon, Mom could return those umbrellas she bought for the occasion 😉

They decided to do a first look, where they get to see each other for the first time and have a special moment before the ceremony. I really love the “first look” because not only does it give me the photographer a chance to get some special photos of just the two of them, but they also get a moment alone. Even though the wedding day is about two people and their promise to love another through it all, usually most of the day is busy, scheduled and doesn’t often include a moment to truly focus on one another.
